About the positionIFE's Energy Systems Analysis department is looking for a new researcher to strengthen our team. Our mission is to develop and analyze sustainable energy scenarios, support strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and assess technology choices, energy carriers, and system-wide impacts across the full energy value chain.
We focus on the impact of technology learning, new technologies, behavior aspects, flexibility solutions, new energy carriers, energy storage, sector coupling, and political measures for the whole value chain of the energy system.
The department's primary focus is optimization models for energy system design. We develop and use the models to increase the knowledge base of the future energy system. We focus both on cost-efficient design and operation of local energy systems, as well as overall analyses with a societal perspective, covering the connection between different energy sectors. Our energy system models are developed in close collaboration with national authorities, industry and technology experts within research and academia. We also cooperate with international energy system modelers through, e.g. IEA-ETSAP.
In this position, you will be working on different research projects. Some of our researchers are involved in developing models, some are mostly using models, while some are mainly managing projects. Our modelling and analysis include energy production, energy distribution, and energy demand. Often, a team of researchers from the department work jointly on projects. Collaboration is key, and we also work closely with the Hydrogen-, Wind-, Battery-, and Solar Power Systems departments at IFE, and other research institutions, universities as well as partners from industry, energy sector, government and society.Key informationApplication deadline:22.04.2026Employer:Institutt for energiteknikk (IFE)Town/city:KJELLERTitle:ResearcherPositions:1Full-time/part-time:Full-timeEmployment type:Permanent positionPercentage of full-time:100Webcruiter ID:5113377404Social sharing :Work tasks
