IFEs Department Risk and Safety conducts research, development and consultancy in risk and safety related to digital systems in critical infrastructure. We collaborate with national and international partners, working on projects funded by the EU, the Norwegian Research Council, industry clients, and the OECD NEA Halden Project. Our team has experience in applied research and consultancy, working on complex digital systems. With a long history in providing research on Software Dependability and Digital Instrumentation and Control (D&IC) within the nuclear field, the specialists in the department is today involved with competence in Safety Case, Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) in projects within nuclear, transport, hydrogen, energy and critical infrastructure.The Department of Risk and Safety is looking for a Senior Researcher within Risk and Safety that would like to contribute to more resilient society.For senior researchers, the role includes developing and leading research projects, writing proposals, and forming collaborations with external partners. Participation in the joint Halden Project and other research activities related to safety assessment of digital I&C systems
Conduct applied research and client projects within safety
Lead and manage projects
Initiate and secure funding through national and international research proposals
Collaborate with industry and government partners to translate research into impactful solutions
Supervise and mentor junior researchers, fostering a collaborative research environment
Play a key role in advancing risk and safety research, representing IFE in professional forums, publications, and strategic initiatives
Report to the research manager
QualificationsDesired Qualifications:
Significant research experience in risk management, safety case, computer science, or a related field that aligns with the department's research focus
Proven track record in leading research projects, marketing and securing funding
Strong networking skills, with the ability to build collaborations across academia, industry, and government
Experience from leadership roles and coordination of research projects
