About the positionWe have a temporary 3-year position available as a postdoctoral fellow or PhD fellow at the Center for Fertility and Health within the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. The center was established in 2017 and currently comprises around 50 employees, with extensive collaboration with national and international environments and research groups. As a center of excellence, we have a particular responsibility to facilitate career development for research talents early in their careers and to promote gender balance in research. As a postdoctoral fellow /PhD fellow at the center, you will work in a multidisciplinary and international research team consisting of, among others, physicians, epidemiologists, geneticists, demographers, psychologists, sociologists, health economists, and statisticians. Our research focuses on the causes and changes in fertility patterns and family structures, and how this affects the health of children and adults through social and biological mechanisms. The position is tied to the ENDOHEALTH project, which is funded by the Research Council. ENDOHEALTH aims to identify risk factors for endometriosis/adenomyosis throughout the life course, starting from fetal life. We will identify both genetic risk factors, environmental factors, and interactions between genes and the environment. Additionally, the project will examine both health-related and psychosocial consequences for women living with endometriosis, including, for example, cardiovascular health consequences, as well as impacts on education, workforce participation, and sexual health throughout a woman's life. The research questions will be addressed using data collected from about 95,000 mothers and their 42,000 adult daughters participating in the Norwegian Mother, Father, and Child Cohort Study, along with a large compilation of information from several central health registries involving over 1 million women of fertile age. The results of this project could contribute to improved healthcare for women living with endometriosis/adenomyosis, provide a better understanding of whether it might be possible to prevent these conditions, and form a basis for further research. We will employ either a PhD fellow or a postdoctoral fellow based on applicants' qualifications. As a PhD fellow, you will participate in the PhD program at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oslo. The successful candidate will have the opportunity for an international research stay with collaborators.Key informationApplication deadline:29.09.2025Employer:Folkehelseinstituttet FHITown/city:OSLOTitle:Postdoktorstilling innen forskning på endometriose/adenomyosePositions:1Full-time/part-time:Full-timeEmployment type:TempPercentage of full-time:100Webcruiter ID:5006358751Social sharing :Responsibilities
