
Freelance Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector

- Inspect and verify installation of electrical systems, control panels, grounding systems, lighting, cable trays, junction boxes, etc.
- Inspect and test instrumentation loops, calibration of transmitters, switches, valves, and control systems.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and international codes (e.g., IEC, NEC, API, ISA).
- Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including loop checks, insulation resistance tests, continuity tests, and function testing.
- Review and verify documentation: Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, Calibration Certificates, Red-line drawings, and As-Built documentation.
- Raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with construction teams, client representatives, and third-party inspectors to resolve quality issues.
- Prepare and submit inspection reports and maintain records of quality assurance documentation.
- Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with site HSE requirements.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation / Electronics Engineering (required).
- Certification in QA/QC or relevant Electrical/Instrumentation standards (e.g., API, IEC, ISA) is a plus.
- CompEx, ATEX, or Hazardous Area Inspection Certifications (advantageous for oil & gas roles).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation inspection, preferably on large-scale industrial or oil & gas projects.
- Experience in reading electrical and P&ID drawings, loop diagrams, and installation standards.
- Knowledge of testing equipment and instruments (megger, multimeter, calibrator, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and solid understanding of E&I standards and regulations.
- Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and specifications accurately.
- Good communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise reports.
- Competence with inspection and documentation tools/software.
- Field/site-based role; may require work in hazardous, outdoor, or remote environments.
- May involve rotational shifts, night shifts, or extended hours during commissioning/start-up phases.
- PPE usage and strict adherence to safety standards required.
