Role OverviewThe Systems Engineer in NOV Digital Services (DBS) is responsible for designing, integrating, and supporting complex industrial systems across OT, IT, networking, and cybersecurity domains.Based in Stavanger, this role supports both project delivery and operational systems in offshore and energy-sector environments.You will work in a global setup, collaborating with teams and supporting systems across regions including the Middle East, Europe, and North America.The role combines hands-on engineering, project coordination, and operational support, requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to work across disciplines. Key Tasks and Responsibilities DBS Project EngineeringLead delivery of assigned projects in line with engineering processesPerform technical tasks including system design, networking, configuration, documentation, installation, and deploymentCommunicate with clients and internal stakeholders throughout project executionSupport and execute testing activities (internal testing, FAT, and offshore support)Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices DBS Project SupportParticipate in on-call rotation to support DBS systems in operationMonitor, track, and resolve issues affecting live systemsSupport ongoing operations and contribute to system reliability improvements System Development, Testing, and SupportContribute to development and release of new system versionsWork on assigned tasks and support ticket handlingMaintain test and development environmentsPerform testing of system components and releasesContribute to continuous improvement of systems and tools CollaborationWork closely with DBS Operations, ISV, and other internal and external stakeholdersSupport cross-functional teamwork and knowledge sharing Minimum QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Automation, Cybernetics, or a related field (Relevant experience may compensate for formal education)Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with OT (Operational Technology), networking, and cybersecurity in industrial environmentsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues in operational systemsAbility to plan, coordinate, and prioritize tasks in a project environmentStrong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teamsAbility to lead tasks and initiatives through influence (not people management)Structured, self-driven, and comfortable working both independently and in teamsComfortable learning and adapting to new technologies, systems, and data flowsFamiliarity with technologies such as virtualization, containerization, and industrial protocols (e.g., OPC-UA, WITSML, Modbus) is an advantageFluent in English (written and spoken) Nice to haveExperience in oil & gas or similar industries, particularly:Downhole toolsDrilling environmentsControl system vendors (e.g., Halliburton, Schlumberger)Experience with industrial control systems (I&C)Experience working with offshore systems or environmentsBasic scripting or development experience (e.g., Python, GitHub)Experience working in global or distributed teams What We OfferCompetitive salary based on experience and levelHealth insuranceSubsidized canteen and free coffeeModern office facilities in StavangerOpportunity to work with advanced technology in a high-impact engineering environmentExposure to global projects and offshore systemsInternational collaboration and occasional travel opportunitiesWe are committed to promoting diversity and equal opportunities.We therefore encourage all qualified candidates to apply -- regardless of gender, age, cultural background, disability, or belief.Om bedriftenJoin our Global Family:We offer an inspiring place to work with great opportunities to develop your skills and the opportunity to work with the brightest minds in the oil and gas industry.
