The Hospital produces a major part of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.The Department of Pathology is one out of seven departments within the Division of Laboratory medicine. Research performed in the Department of Pathology is currently organized in six research groups which integrate university and hospital research activities. Current research topics address cancer, immunopathology, inflammation and neurodegenerative diseases. The research groups collaborate extensively with local, national and international investigators. Opportunities to perform translational research are excellent, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities.We currently have a vacant postdoctoral fellowship (three years).The position is within a team of therapeutic antibody developers headed by Dr. Guttorm Haraldsen, professor of pathology, who has partnered with Inven2, our technology transfer office, as well as ShareLab, a launchpad for academics, start-ups, and industry developing new products in life science and biotechnology, to develop biopharmaceuticals targeting rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory disorders. Our aim is to combine single-cell transcriptomics with therapeutic antibody development, currently aiming at the selective targeting of Notch signaling in models of chronic inflammation.Oslo University Hospital is a workplace with great diversity. - Design and production of recombinant antibodies.
- In vitro assessment of efficacy in cell culture.
- In vivo assessment in murine models of arthritis.
- Single cell analyses of the murine and human arthritis tissue to assess mechanisms of in vivo action.
- Applicants must hold a PhD in biology, immunology, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, experimental biology, or a related field. Prior knowledge of inflammation biology/immunology is a requirement.
- Molecular biology experience is an advantage. This includes the design of DNA constructs with relevant software, gene cloning, propagation of plasmids in bacteria, plasmid preparation, gene expression, and PCR.
- Experience in experimental pathology/FELASA-C competence is an advantage
- Experience in techniques for antibody biology and engineering is an advantage.
- Experience in structure biology tools such as FoldX, AlphaFold, RosettaFold, Pymol is an advantage.
- Coding abilities in R/Python is an advantage
- Experience with single-cell omics is an advantage
- The candidate will work in a very ambitious interdisciplinary setting, which will require high flexibility, the ability to work under pressure, and the ability to work independently.
