Deputy Head of PreschoolBISS PreschoolAt BISS Preschool, the development of the whole child is at the heart of our education programme. Children are taught through an inquiry driven, play-based programme which is integrated with the Norwegian Framework Plan for Preschools. BISS Preschool has 100 children from over 35 nations, aged 18 months to 6 years of age.The Preschool is on the same campus as BISS Gausel, one of the BISS primary schools, in a quiet suburb of Stavanger. The adjacent woodland and fjord provide enriched outdoor learning experiences. BISS Preschool works in collaboration with BISS Gausel and BISS Sentrum Primary Schools.About the jobWe have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head of Preschool (50% permanent position), starting October 2025.This is a chance to help shape and lead a highly valued part of Stavanger’s international community - a preschool that families trust and children love. Working closely with the Head of Preschool, you will play a key role in both day-to-day operations and long-term development.Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in pedagogy/early childhood studies (approved by HKDir) and/or barnehage lærerutdanning.
  • Leadership qualifications and/or experience.
  • Training in the IB Primary Years/Early Years Programme is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills in English (minimum B2, written and oral) and Norwegian (minimum B1, written and oral).
  • Confident with IT and digital management platforms.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian preschool legislation.
Responsibilities
  • Leading and administering the daily running of the preschool in a responsible manner and in accordance with the aims of the organisation and the Norwegian law for preschools, under supervision of the Head of Preschool
  • Contribute to the recruitment of class leaders, SEND teachers and teaching assistants
  • Follow up of staff on personnel matters
  • Conduct staff appraisals and feedback collaboration with the Preschool Class Leaders
  • Help the Head of Preschool to ensure that good personnel routines are maintained
  • Help to maintain and improve the working environment
  • Administer absence and leave
  • Help to manage the pedagogical aspects of the Preschool
